As an academic institution, we contribute to the community and to the society. One way to do so is by taking part in open-source projects.
NPC Engine
Our most recent open-source contribution is the external pageNPC Engine, a customizable Monte Carlo Tree Search planner with advanced features tailored to multi-agent simulations and emergent narratives.
Thymio
external pageDr. Stéphane Magnenat is the creator and the lead developer of several key open-source bricks on which the external pageThymio project, as well as other research programs, are built:
- The external pageAseba software framework which is at the heart of the Thymio robot and some other research robots. external pageResearch paper
- external pageThymio VPL Mobile, a tablet-enabled programming interface for the Thymio robot.
- The external pageEnki open source robot simulator. We use it to simulate Thymio and several research institutions world-wide build their research on it (external pageusage info).
- external pageDashel, a cross-platform data stream helper encapsulation library, on which Aseba is based.
In addition, we currently maintain external pageThymio tracker, an open-source natural image marker library, originally developed by external pageEPFL-CVLAB. We also provide external pagea demo of this tracker integrated with Qt.
